Buddha’s birthday in Japanese is called Hana Matsuri/花祭り. It is always in April 8th and is a joint celebration with flower viewing.

The japanese celebrates hana matsuri through parades where little ones are dressed in golden vibrant colours of traditional clothes accompanied by their parents who are also wearing traditional clothes. The japanese people often decorate their houses in paper lanterns and visits temples with flower offerings and to wash the baby buddha.
